James Haley, age 78 years, of Caro, passed away on Wednesday, April 22, 2009 at Marlette Regional Hospital Hospice Residence in Marlette, Michigan. He was born on April 14, 1931 in Bad Axe to the late James and Mildred (Whear) Haley. Mr. Haley was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He had been employed as a butcher at Erlas in Cass City for more than twenty-five years. He was a member of Caro V.F.W. Post #4164. Jim enjoyed woodworking, horses and dogs. He is survived by three children, Charlene (James) Rowe of Caro, Lori (James) Michalski of Caro and Robert (Mary) Haley of Deford; eight grandchildren, Timothy Sherman, Justin Rowe, Michael, Aaron and Brian Michalski, Brenda, Robert and Dee Dee Haley; his siblings, Mary Ellen Miller of Bad Axe and Dorothy Hunter of California; a sister-in-law, Helen Haley of Bad Axe; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, James Haley, Jr.; and two brothers Carl and Charles Haley. The funeral service will be held at the Collon Funeral Home in Caro on Sunday, April 26, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. with Chaplain Henry Sugden, Caro V.F.W. Post #4164, officiating. Following cremation, burial will be at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly. Visitation will be held at the Collon Funeral Home on Sunday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 1:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to the James Haley family discretionary fund, c/o Charlene Rowe, 2458 Handy Rd., Caro, MI 48723
