James Howard Hall

With heavy hearts we said good bye to a great man, James “Jim” H. Hall, age 86, of Bad Axe, Michigan, on September 6th, 2022, after a brief battle with Covid 19. Typically a man of few words, but those words were always filled with wisdom, wit and an inquisitive nature. A man who held many titles and roles but whose favorites were Dad and Papa. Jim graduated from North Huron, Kinde, MI, in 1953; Ferris University with a Bachelor of Science in Commerce degree in 1957; and Central Michigan University with a Master of Arts degree in 1962. Jim was involved as a Certified Public Accountant throughout his life. He rose through the ranks becoming President of First National Bank of Bad Axe. He had many side businesses including apartment buildings, a road brining dust control service, A Royal Flush Septic service business, Diamond Blue Bottled Water Company and converting a Bay City gas station into a Hungry Howies restaurant among many others. He participated civically with the Bad Axe City Council and the Huron Regional Water Authority. A man with great intelligence who loved to try new things. A man who loved to teach and make his world a better place. A man who always meant business, expected and gave respect. A man of tradition. A man who had and instilled an enormous work ethic in his family. A mentor to all his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. A proud man. A loved man. A man of faith and generosity. Jim was a lifelong parishioner of St. Hubert’s (formerly Sacred Heart of Bad Axe). A man who carried a sparkle and twinkle in his eyes whenever he was looking at his loved ones. His smile, his laugh, his grin, his wit, his advice, his love and his presence will be greatly missed. A life well lived. A man well loved.

Jim is survived by Shirley Hall, mother of his children, of Bad Axe, MI; children Gregory (Lisa) Hall, of Midland, MI, Trudi (Bill) Laurence, of McMurray, PA and Tami (Jim) Howard, of Novi, MI; grandchildren Erica (Sam) Schwein, Allison (Joe) Deneweth, Jordan (Kevin) Piwowar, Gregory Keefer and Steven Laurence and great grandchildren, Jack and Luke Schwein and Sloan and Cassius Deneweth. Jim is also survived by brothers, Donald Hall, of Kinde, MI, and Robert Hall, of Fort Myers, FL. He was preceded in death by his mother, Elizabeth Hall, his father, Howard Hall, and sister, Carole Gage.

Visitation will take place at Sacred Heart/St. Hubert’s in Bad Axe on Wednesday, September 14, 2022, at 10 am with the funeral mass beginning at 11 am. There will be an after mass interment at Sacred Heart Cemetery columbarium immediately after the funeral mass. Memorials may be made to St. Hubert’s in Bad Axe.
