James Ralph Hartman of Dallas, Texas, formerly of Caro, age 71, passed away on Wednesday, October 19, 2016, following a lengthy illness. Jim was born May 6, 1945 in Cass City, the son of Cecile (McAlpine Hartman) Howk and the late Ralph Hartman. He was a 1963 graduate of Caro High School. As a youth, he worked at Heavenrich's in Saginaw, and was later employed as a florist until going on disability for health issues. James is survived by his daughters, Loree Dawn Crisp of Lima, Ohio, and Cheri Lyn & Jeremy Piercefield of Lima, Ohio; eight grandchildren; his mother, Cecil B. Howk of Flint Township; brother, Donald T. Hartman of Clio; sister, Sherrie & Tom Green of Ormond Beach, Florida; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by two infant brothers, Raymond and John Hartman; a sister, Linda Hartman; and a sister-in-law, Carol Ann Hartman. A special thank you goes out to his best friend, Robert David Goins of Dallas, Texas, for being there and helping Jim through his long illness. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 12, 2016 at the Caro United Methodist Church with Rev. Tony Tomasino officiating. Burial will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the Elkland Township Cemetery in Cass City. The family will be present to receive friends at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to the Caro United Methodist Church.
