James Hergenreder of Caro, age 86, passed away peacefully into the arms of the Lord on Monday, July 4, 2022 at Covenant Healthcare - Cooper in Saginaw. Jim was born December 5, 1935, the third of five sons, to the late Andrew and Helen (Witkovsky) Hergenreder. He worked for the Caro Center for twenty-eight years before retiring as a supervisor of nursing, while also working as a farmer raising cows, pigs, and horses (but no goats). Jim was a lifelong member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Caro, where he devoted countless hours to volunteering in a number of different capacities, including working in the Bethesda Thrift Store, overseeing Servant Event construction projects around Caro, and making several mission trips to Anapra, Mexico to assist in building churches and houses. Jim lovingly built his own home for his family to grow in and resided there until the time of his death. In his spare time, Jim enjoyed woodworking, hunting, coaching little league, watching baseball, his cat, and gardening (especially blueberries and grapes for his family famous wine). He often participated with the 4-H organization as a leader and then later as a judge for woodworking and rocketry at the annual fair. Jim prided himself in teaching others, especially his grandchildren. He is survived by his devoted wife of sixty-six years, Lorraine Hergenreder; three children, Cindy (James) Hitchcock of Columbiaville, Lee (Bonnie) Hergenreder of Caro, and Dan (Maureen) Hergenreder of Kawkawlin; five grandchildren, Becky (Paul) Tiret, Ryan (Amy) Thompson, Dan (Jaqueline Leader) Hergenreder, Amanda (Cade Methner) Hergenreder, and Cody Hergenreder; five great-grandchildren, Liam, Owen, Avery, Ezra, and Ian; and one brother, Richard (Martha) Hergenreder of California. In addition to his parents, Jim joins three brothers and his son, Dale Hergenreder, in Heaven.
