James J. Jacoby

James J. Jacoby, age 74, of Unionville, passed away at his home on August 22, 2018.

James was born November 14, 1943, in Bay City, to Jacob and Millie (Ruppel) Jacoby. He married Mary Ellen Lich on May 26, 1962, at the Unionville Moravian Church. James worked on the family farm for 20 years where he also housed 10,000 chickens, then drove semi-truck for Penske Logistics, and retired in 2006. After retirement he enjoyed driving truck during the harvest season for the Vermeersch and Jacoby Farms. He enjoyed fishing and camping, and traveling the last 5 years in the RV. He loved chauffeuring his grandchildren to their sporting events. He spent hours cleaning his cars and trucks…they were always spotless. He will be sadly missed by all, especially his 2 dogs, Charlie and Baily.

James is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen; children: Kayeleen (Wilbur) Jacobs of Munger and Chad (Julie) Jacoby of Unionville; grandchildren: Cole and Dalton Jacobs, and Connor (friend Andrea Dohm), Kye, and Jade Jacoby; 2 sisters: Betty (Bob) Brinkman and Bonnie (Jack) Brinkman; and many nieces and nephews.

James is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Bertha Houthoofd; and godson, Michael Lich.

Cremation has taken place. The family has planned a memorial service for Saturday, August 25, 2018, at the Unionville Moravian Church. Visitation will begin at 10am until the time of service at 11am.
