James Eldon Jashinske of Caro, age 83, passed away on November 16, 2025 at Heritage Hill Assisted Living. He was born on July 9, 1942, in Cass City, the son of the late John and Aldena (Jennings) Jashinske. Jim graduated from Caro High School with the Class of 1960, served in the Army Reserves until 1965, and later earned his associate’s degree from Delta College in 1980. On June 7, 1969, he married the love of his life, the former Delores Baker. Their marriage was blessed with more than thirty-seven years together, two wonderful children, two amazing grandchildren, and countless cherished memories. Delores sadly passed away on December 24, 2006.
Jim devoted over forty-three years of service to Tuscola County. He began his career at the Tuscola County Medical Care Community, working in patient care for ten years and then bookkeeping for two years. He later joined the Tuscola County Sheriff’s Office, where he served for three decades and retired as Sheriff in 2009. Jim was a proud member of the F.O.P., a loyal friend, and he loved spending time with the “Barber Shop Boys.” He enjoyed a good round of golf, cheering on the Detroit Tigers, attending Great Lakes Loons baseball games, and most of all, taking the Camaro out for a drive with the top down, his favorite pastime. Jim’s love and loyalty with be remembered by all who knew him.
Jim leaves to cherish his memory, his children, Mitchael Jashinske and Jennifer (Gabriel) Savage; grandchildren, Devyn and Connor Jashinske; special friend, Dolores Fiebig. In addition to his parents and wife, Jim was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Maryann Jashinske.
Jim’s funeral service will be on Saturday, November 22, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at the Ransford Funeral Home in Caro with Rev. Michele Hile officiating. The family will be present to receive visitors on Friday, November 21, 2025 at 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of his service. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider memorial contributions to the Tuscola County Medical Care Community.
