James “Jim” Gordon Moakes of Caro, age 71, passed away on Monday April 15, 2024 at the Tuscola County Medical Care Community. Jim was born July 23, 1952 in Highland Park, the son of the late Gordon and Nancy (Avery) Moakes. He graduated from Douglas MacArthur High School and went on to become a jack of all trades. Jim worked in several fields, including insurance, carpentry, moving, and safety inspection. He was a member of the Caro Church of the Nazarene and attended the Bible studies. Jim was a devout Christian and enjoyed serving at the church. He ushered and taught adult Sunday school and the Youth Group Pioneer Club. Jim married the former Jeanine Kosbar on November 4, 1978. Their marriage was blessed with over forty-five years, two children, and many cherished memories. Jim was quite the prankster and loved a good joke; his big, joyous laugh could always be heard from afar. Throughout life he enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and coaching his kids’ baseball and softball games. Jim’s infectious laugh and smile will be remembered by all who were lucky enough to know him.
Jim leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife, Jeanine; children & their spouses, Angela & Christian Luter and Matthew & Brandy Moakes; grandchildren, Conner, Evan, Ashton, Stephanie, and Tiffany; siblings, Linda & Helen, Susan, and Nancy; several nieces and nephews.
