James B. Kula "Doc", 66, of Caseville, died Sunday, February 28, 2016 at his home.
James was born January 10, 1950 in Cass City to the late Joseph and Margaret (Ford) Kula and grew up in Deford. He served in the US Army during the Vietnam war. He worked as a mason in residential construction, working with many of the Thumb area builders. In 2004 health problems forced him to quit working and he then moved to Caseville where he enjoyed many outdoor activities, like fishing and hunting and also collecting coins.
He is survived by his daughters Melissa (Mick) Larimer of Caseville and Jolene (Jeff) Denison of Ohio; grandchildren Keith, Heather, Hunter, Amber and Alexis (Brady); a great-grandson Jaxon; and siblings Judy Daniels of Lapeer, Jerry (Yvonne) Kula of Owendale and Carol (Dennis) Wahl of Bad Axe; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother John, sister Mary Rice and grandson Dalton Larimer.
A memorial service will be at 2:00pm Wednesday, March 2nd at the Champagne Funeral Chapel of Caseville with Rev. Karen Bouverette officiating. Military honors will be presented by the Caseville American Legion. Visitation will be from Noon Wednesday until the time of service at 2:00pm.
