James Carl Lapratt

James Carl LaPratt of Unionville, age 74, passed away on Saturday, October 16, 2021 at McLaren - Bay Region in Bay City. Jim was born March 15, 1947 in Caro, the son of the late Alfred & Anna (Yens) LaPratt and graduated from Caro High School with the class of 1965. He was united in marriage with Diane S. Vollmar on May 11, 1968 in Caro, and she survives. Jim worked for many years as an over the road truck driver before beginning a career in carpentry. He was an outdoorsman at heart and enjoyed camping with family and friends, hunting, and fishing. He was immensely proud of his grandchildren and loved attending their events and spending all the time he could with them. He was also a member of the Caro Moose Lodge and the National Rifle Association. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of fifty-three years, Diane S. LaPratt of Unionville; one daughter and her husband, Michelle & Larry Weisenbach and their children, Chance, Amy, and Angie Weisenbach, all of Sebewaing; one son, Duane LaPratt and his children, Nicolas and Ashlyn LaPratt, all of Akron; sister, Mary Butcher of Caro; mother-in-law, Helen Vollmar of Caro; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Jennifer LaPratt; and grandson, Zackary LaPratt. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro with Rev. Charles Kuhl officiating. The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday from 3:00 p.m. until the time of the service at 4:00 p.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider memorials contributions to the family.
