James K. LaPratt, age 63, passed away Friday, December 19, 2008 at Covenant-Harrison in Saginaw, following a brief illness. Jim was born March 15, 1945 in Caro, the son of the late Mearreal & Geraldine (Honold) LaPratt and was a lifelong area resident. He graduated from Caro High School with the class of 1963, and served in the U.S. Army from 1963 to 1966. Jim was united in marriage with the former Sharon L. Karr on February 22, 1974 in Caro. He was employed at Saginaw Steering Gear for thirty-four years, retiring as a Supervisor at Delphi Plant #6 in June of 2000. Jim was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Caro, Sacred Heart Mens Choir, Caro Knights of Columbus Council #3224 and Caro Moose Lodge #1049. Jim will be fondly remembered as a man that enjoyed life and meeting new people, and cherished his many friendships. His passion was playing cards and he also enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, golfing, bowling, listening to music, and having a cold beer on a hot summer day. Jim is survived by his loving wife, Sharon LaPratt of Caro; two sons, Jason LaPratt and his friend Kristy Cousineau of Bay City, Matthew LaPratt of Caro and his daughters mother, Holly Fisher of Vassar; one granddaughter, Madelynn LaPratt; five sisters, one brother and their spouses, Mary Lou Morrison of Caro, Ann Colosky of Mayville, Wayne & Beth LaPratt of Caro, Barbara & Bernie Dennis of Caro, Carolyn & Bill Blaylock of Caro, Marilyn & Stan Grzemkowski of Fairgrove and many nieces and nephews.
