James I. McQueen, 62 of McKinley Township, passed away Monday, May 25, 2015 at McLaren Bay Region.
He was born on February 7, 1953 to George and Marilyn McQueen. He graduated from St. Johns High School and earned a B.S. from Michigan State University. On June 16, 1979, he was united in marriage to Kathy J. Dietzel at Salem United Methodist Church in Pigeon.
After college, Jim taught Junior High math and science for several years. He was a loan officer at Farm Credit in St. Johns for several years. Jim was currently employed at Thumb National Bank as a Senior Vice President and chief ag loan officer for more than 25 years at the Pigeon and Bay City Wilder Road offices.
Jim was a current member and former officer as well as district representative of the Pigeon Lions Club. He enjoyed golfing and looked forward to golfing again. He loved to farm, saving his vacation time to work the sugar beet harvest. He also enjoyed working the river flats behind the family home.
Jim was a firm believer in organ donation and encouraged everyone he met to become a registered organ donor.
Surviving are his wife, Kathy; sons, Jim (Becky) of Swartz Creek and Mike of Haslett; grandchildren, Alexis and Dylan; his parents, George and Marilyn; sisters, Diana (Jerry) Pitts, Sandy (Ray) Westphal, Teri (Brad) Veiseth and Lori (Mel) Pickens; father-in-law, Eldon Dietzel; sisters-in-law, Marge (Glenn) VanDyke, Pat (John) VanZant, Angie (Jerry) Dubs; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Joyce Dietzel.
The Funeral Service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 28, 2015 at Salem United Methodist Church, Pigeon, with Rev. David Stewart, pastor, officiating. Cremation will follow.
Memorials may be directed to the Pigeon Lions Club Leader Dogs for the Blind.
