James V. Spencer

James V. Spencer of Caro, age 71, passed away on Thursday, January 18, 2018 at Covenant Health Care - Cooper in Saginaw. Jim was born November 22, 1946 in Cass City, and was a 1965 graduate of Caro High School. Jim proudly served his country with the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War from 1966-1969. He later worked for the State of Michigan at the Caro Regional Center for twenty-four years. Jim enjoyed harness racing, fishing, slots, and his vacation site at Grindstone City where he and Bonnie would spend their summers. He was a member of the Caro Moose Lodge for over thirty years. Jim is survived by the love of his life for forty-nine years, Bonnie Morton of Caro; one daughter and son-in-law, Jody & Randall Mills of Paragould, Arkansas; three grandchildren, Rebecca Vinson of Paragould, Arkansas, Amanda & Rob May or Orlando, Florida, Samantha & Jeff Martin of Pigeon; and several great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Dawn Morton; and one grandson, James Jackson. In keeping with James' wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial gathering will be held at the Caro Moose Lodge on Sunday, January 21, 2018 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Military honors will be provided by the U.S. Navy at 11:30 a.m. at the Caro Moose Lodge.
