James L. Sweeden

James L. "Jim" Sweeden, 75 of Caseville, passed away Tuesday, December 11, 2012 at McLaren Bay Region Hospital with his family by his side.
Born in Morrilton, Arkansas on September 19, 1937, he was the son of James L. and Bessie Rae (Anders) Sweeden, and graduated from Fitzgerald High School in Warren. On March 9, 1961 he was united in marriage to Rose Marie Snider in Warren, and the couple has been married for more than 50 years.
Jim served with the U.S. Army from 1961-1963. As a Private, he was assigned to Fort George G. Meade in Maryland, where he learned to cook. He was an excellent cook and will be especially remembered for his spaghetti sauce.
Jim was a professional glass glazer, completing his internship in September, 1965. In 1972 he established Groesbeck Glass & Glazing in Warren, which he owned and operated until his retirement in 1991. The family still owns and operates the business today.
Jim was an avid fisherman, he enjoyed boating in Saginaw Bay and had completed the U.S. Coast Guard Power Squadron course. He enjoyed spending time with his family and watching sports with his grandsons. He dearly loved animals, especially his family pets and cats over the years.
Jim was a member of the Caseville F.O.E. #3690 as well as the Caseville American Legion Jean Post #543 .
In addition to his beloved wife Rose, Jim is survived by three children, Don (Trudy), Rachelle (Gerardo), and Rose (Casmere); five grandchildren: Luke (Paige), Abigail, Melanie, James, and C.J.; one great-grandson, Gabe; his dear companion cat, Sarah; and the many friends he made throughout his lifetime and in his business.
Private Funeral Services will be conducted on Thursday, December 13, 2012 at the Meyersieck-Bussema Funeral Home, Pigeon, with Rev. Timothy Loehrke officiating. Burial will be in Caseville Township Cemetery.
