Jim Wright of Kingston, age 77, passed away on Wednesday, November 15, 2023 at Autumnwood of Deckerville. Jim was born July 18, 1946, in Saginaw, the son of the late Clarence and Mildred (Beski) Wright. On June 19, 1965, he was united in marriage with the love of his life, the former Jill Walker. Together they have celebrated fifty-eight years of marriage. Jim proudly served his country with the U.S. Navy Seabees from 1964-1966. Patriotism was valued highly in the Wright family. Following his discharge from the Navy, Jim was employed as a deputy with the Tuscola County Sheriff’s Department, Chief of Police for Kingston, and EMT for Collon Funeral Home and Ambulance Service. He went on to work as a lineman for IBEW Detroit for twenty years, retiring in 2008. Jim was a member of St. Christopher Parish, Sacred Heart Church. His love always lay with his family first, hard work, and hunting. His work ethic was outstanding, and he wore many hats, sometimes two at a time. He enjoyed shooting skeet at the Tuscola County Hunt Club and loved his fur buddy, Cubby, who was always at his side.
Left to cherish Jim’s memory are his loving wife of fifty-eight years, Jill Wright; one daughter, Dee Dee Wright of Yale; one son, Bobby Wright and his fiance, Melanie Ferreira, of Fairgrove; grandchildren, Nick Franzel, Krissy Franzel and Moe, Danny Franzel and Heather, Shelby and Dan Hecht, Madison Wright, Kali Wright and Shaun, Vida Wright, and Zoe Wright; two great-grandsons, Colby and Hoyt Hecht; one sister, Terrie Lynn McTaggart; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bob and Darlene Walker; special aunt and uncle, Fred and Alberta Hess; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. A special thank you to wonderful neighbors, Jace and Roxanne Sears. In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by one son, Jimmy; and one brother, Daniel.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Ferreira and staff for helping with all of Jim’s health issues and to Tuscola County Veterans Affairs for helping to find a wonderful caring nursing home for Jim. From all our hearts, thank you for the excellent care at Autumnwood, especially the nursing staff. Finally, a huge thank you to Compassus Hospice, who was wonderful to Jim and his family.
