Janet Mary Gill

Janet Mary Gill of Caro, age 72, passed away on Wednesday, September 2, 2020 at her home, following a courageous battle with cancer. Janet was born May 14, 1948 in Ypsilanti, the daughter of the late James & Jean (Hartley) Ahearn. She grew up in Bad Axe and graduated from high school there with the class of 1966. Shortly after, she came to the Caro area and spent over twenty years with Delphi Saginaw Steering Systems. She was a member of St. Christopher Parish in Caro and cherished time spent with family, especially sister day. Janet also enjoyed reading, painting, solving puzzles and making greeting cards. She was a talented card player and never missed an opportunity to visit a casino. Janet is survived by two children and their spouses, Ame Lee & Edward Rievert of Gagetown, Chad Nicholas & Theresa Gill of Essexville; two grandchildren, Eric Edward Rievert of Bad Axe, Carlee Renee Rievert of Gagetown; siblings and their spouses, Cheree Szidik of Caro, Carol Fry of Akron, Patricia & Wayne Kreilter of Algonac, David & Cindy Ahearn of Marine City, Michael & Linda Ahearn of Algonac, Peggy & John Gibson of Algonac; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Larry Tomlinson of Caseville, Nora & Lee Jacoby of Florida; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to her parents, Janet was preceded in death by an infant brother, Richard Ahearn; an infant granddaughter, Holly Gill; brothers-in-law, Edward Szidik, George Fry, Sr.; and sister-in-law, Janet Tomlinson. In keeping with Janet's wishes, cremation has taken place. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 12, 2020 at St. Christopher Parish, Sacred Heart Church, in Caro with Rev. Adam Maher officiating. The family will be present to receive friends at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro on Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
