Janet E. Lorf

Janet E. Lorf of Caro, age 88, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at the Tuscola County Medical Care Community in Caro. She was born January 26, 1928 in Detroit, the daughter of the late Oral E. and Eleanora O. (Schmitt) Fowke. Janet was a devoted mother, homemaker and seamstress. She enjoyed crocheting, especially angels, cross stitch, sewing, and tending to her flower and vegetable gardens. Janet was also a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Caro. She is survived by one daughter, Faith Lorf of Caro; siblings, Krena DeGues of Idaho, Irene Liebler and her husband, Gar, of Dryden; sisters-in-law, Cathy Fowke of Armada, Alice Fowke of Clinton Township, Cathy Fowke of Oregon; daughter-in-law, Julie Ann Cartwright and her husband, William, of Caro; grandson, John Lorf of California; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Hope Eleanora Lorf in 1950; son, David Lorf in 2001; three brothers, Adolph, William and Ernest Fowke; brother-in-law, Charles DeGues; and a grandson, Eric Lorf. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 26, 2016 at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Caro with Rev. Cameron Steele officiating. Burial will be at a later time at Indianfields Township Cemetery in Caro. The family will be present to receive friends at the church on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to the Forget-Me-Nots of the Tuscola County Medical Care Community.
