Janet Maureen Sticken, age 84, of Owendale, passed away Thursday, December 13, 2018.
Janet was born in Saginaw, June 6, 1934, to Adolph and Irene (Maxwell) Schwartz. She graduated from Arthur Hill High School in Saginaw in 1952. She then attended and graduated from Saginaw General Nursing School. Janet married Arnold Sticken on February 11, 1956, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Saginaw. He preceded her in death on October 22, 2012. She worked as a Registered Nurse at Hills and Dales General Hospital in Cass City for many years retiring in 1996. There she not only worked as an RN, but was also the Assistant Administrator, and helped develop the Infectious Control Program at the hospital. She continued to volunteer at the hospital in the Medical Records Department form 1996-2016. Janet also enjoyed knitting, traveling, going to the cottage up north, going to the beach, looking at waterfalls, working crossword puzzles and spending time with her great grandchildren. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Linkville where she was a member of the Finance Committee.
Janet is survived by her two children: Mark Sticken of Owendale and Caroline (Jim) Brief of Reese; granddaughter, Rachel (William) VerBeek of Vassar; three great grandchildren: Brody, Blake, Brock and is expecting a great granddaughter in February; and many nieces and nephews.
Janet is preceded in death by her husband, Arnold; and siblings: Lois Lewis, Kay Damm, and Jim Schwartz.
Visitation will be Monday, December 17, 2018, at Juengel & Mellendorf Funeral Home in Sebewaing, from 3-8pm.
The Funeral service will be Tuesday, December 18, 2018, at St. Paul Lutheran Church (Linkville). Visitation will begin at the church at 10am until the time of service at 11am.
Burial will take place privately at Bethlehem Lutheran Cemetery in Saginaw on Wednesday, December 19.
Memorial donations may be given to St. Paul Lutheran Church (Linkville) or McNally House (Saginaw).
