Janet C. Van Sumer age 69, of Caseville died Wednesday morning, December 19, at her home following a probable heart attack.

She was born March 27, 1943 in Mt Clemens to the late August and Edith (Kinkle) Nieschulz.

Janet graduated from Clintondale High School in 1961 and had attended her 50th class reunion last year. On July 15, 1987, she was united in marriage to James K. Van Sumer in Warren. Janet owned and operated her own business in Warren, “Friend Ceramics” for 20 years, retiring in 2003. In 2005, she and Jim moved to their home in Hume Twp. just east of Oak Beach.

She was a member of the Caseville Eagles Auxiliary and loved gardening an being out of doors.

Surviving are her husband, Jim; children, Todd (Niki) Herren of Centerline, Michele Moreno of Clinton Twp. and Troy Tauck of Warren; her grandchildren, Kristin, Brandon, Joselyne, Broden, Faith and Serenity and a niece, Nancy O’Neil.
Preceding her in death was her brother, John Nieschulz.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM Saturday, December 22, at Champagne Funeral Chapel, Elkton. Rev. Fr. Andrew Booms, pastor of St. Michaels Catholic Church with burial in Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly.
Friends may call from 2:00 to 8:00 PM Friday and after 10:00 AM Saturday.
Memorials may be directed to Second Hand Store in Caseville.
