Janice Jane Elenbaum

July 8, 1946 — May 23, 2025

Pigeon

Janice Jane (Sonntag) Elenbaum, 78, of Pigeon, passed away Friday, May 23, 2025, at Addington Place of Clarkston.

Janice was born July 8, 1946, in Pigeon to the late Paul and Della (Kurzer) Sonntag. She was a 1964 graduate of Sebewaing High School. She married Roger Elenbaum July 30, 1966, and spent 56 years traveling together with him until his passing on November 16, 2022. She was a member of the Farm Bureau “Speedy 66” group and a devoted attendee of Salem Global Methodist Church where she was a member of a Salem Family Group and participated in Sunday School. Janice lived for the community she made of her friends and family. She spent many summer days at Bayshore Family Camp and enjoyed Gospel quartets, as well as snowmobiling and camping with Roger and family friends. Her community expanded to Bradenton, FL where she wintered with Roger, escaping from the cold Michigan winters. Janice rarely missed a sporting event, always being there to support her children and grandchildren, and is remembered as a loving and supportive mother who nurtured the community that grew around her.

Janice is survived by children Kris (Jamie) McBride of Waterford, Paul (Patti) Elenbaum of Indiana, Sherry Larsen of Colorado and Kimberly (Gavin) Litchfield of North Carolina; grandchildren Jacob, Maggie, Chase, Jenna, Andee, Ezra, Everleigh, and Ryleigh; and brothers Larry (Connie) Sonntag of Bay City and Dale (Diane) Sonntag of Sebewaing; as well as many nieces, nephews, other family members, and countless friends. Janice was preceded in death by her husband Roger and grandson Jack McBride.

Visitation will be 4pm-8pm Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at the Champagne Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be 11:00am Thursday at Salem Global Methodist Church with Rev Joshua Johnson officiating.

The family wishes to acknowledge Addington Place of Clarkston for their compassionate care and being her second family over the two years she resided there.
