Jannis Taylor, age 85, of Clare, formerly of Caro, went to join her Lord on Monday, November 15, 2010 from the Horizon Senior Living facility in Clare. She came into this world as an identical twin to Phyllis in the family home on a private drive at Wahjamega. They were the only children of the late Karl and Mildred (Force) Kinsey. Jannis was a Caro High School graduate. On June 8, 1945, she was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart, Wallace Taylor. He preceded her in death on March, 29, 2002, after which she moved to Farwell to stay with her loving daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia and David Luther. As her health changed, she decided to move to Horizon Senior Living in Clare where she made her residence for the remainder of her life. As children, the “KinseyTwins” were a force to be reckoned with. They grew up in a home that was built for her family on Almer Street. After many years, she and her husband Wally purchased and occupied that home, which is now the residence of a granddaughter and her husband. Following graduation from high school, Jannis and Phyllis were off to Michigan State to pursue degrees in Education. She contracted TB, never finishing her degree, but continued taking classes through Central Michigan University. In addition to being a farm wife, she was a desk clerk for her parents at the Hotel Montague, and until her retirement was employed in the Caro school system. While living in Caro, she was a very active member of the First Presbyterian Church, serving on boards and was a long time member of the church choir with husband Wallace. She was an active member of the Caro Garden Club. In later years, she attended both her daughters church and that of a granddaughter. In addition to her church activities, she enjoyed studying her Bible, bridge, golf (watching and playing), watching and studying birds, her cats, and had an intense interest in her children and their families. In addition to her daughter, Cynthia (David) Luther of Farwell, she is survived by a son, Chris (Arlene) Taylor of Caro; six granddaughters and soon to be fifteen great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Madge Gromek of Frankenmuth; a niece who was much like a daughter, Robin (Gary) Johnson of Waters; and several additional nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law, Phyllis and Bud Bowles; a nephew, Stephen Bowles; and a great-granddaughter, Lily. Visitation and funeral services will be held at the First Presbyterian Church in Caro on Thursday, November 18, 2010 with Rev. Michele Hile officiating. Visitation will begin at 10:30 a.m. and continue until time of service at 11:30 a.m. with a luncheon immediately following. Interment will be at the Indianfields Township Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, Mid-Michigan Home Care Hospice of Clare County, 3007 N. Saginaw Road, Midland, MI 48620, or Love INC of Clare County, P.O. Box 351, Clare, MI 48617.
