Beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Jay D. Gray of Caro, age 93, passed away on Monday, January 21, 2013 at the Tuscola County Medical Care Facility in Caro. He was born December 28, 1919 in Caro, the son of the late Jay L. and Martha E. Gray and was a 1937 graduate of Caro High School. Jay D. enlisted in the Army Air Corp and served in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He was united in marriage with the former Dolores Eileen Bosely on August 7, 1946 in Saginaw. After the war, Jay D. joined the postal service in Caro, on December 1, 1947 becoming the Assistant Postmaster on August of 1950 and remained in that position until October 9, 1977, when he was named Postmaster of the Caro Post Office. He retired after 32 years of postal service in Caro on December 29, 1980. Jay D. was a lifelong member of the First Presbyterian Church of Caro, a life member of Mt. Moriah Lodge #226 F&AM, the Caro Chapter #96 R.A.M. of Michigan, a past president of the Caro Exchange Club, a member of the National Association of Postmasters, National Association of Postal Supervisors, United States and National Association of Retired Federal Employees, a past member of the Caro Historical Commission, Caro American Legion Post #7 and a forty year member of the Brentwood Coffee Group. Jay D. enjoyed playing golf and going to his cottage up north on Vaughan Lake. Jay D. is survived by his wife of sixty-six years, Dolores; two sons and their wives, Brian & Pamela Gray of Kawkawlin, Bruce & Jessie Gray of Dimondale; eight grandchildren, Christopher & Becki, Noel & Rachel and Brandon Gray, Emily, Bethany, Diego, Sophia and Liam Gray; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, June Gray of Frankenmuth, Suzanna Gray of Grand Blanc and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister, Robert Gray, Margaret Wilson and Donald Gray. In keeping with Jay D.s wishes, cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be planned for later in the spring.
