Jean Jane Church

Jean Jane Church of Gagetown, age 89, passed away on Saturday, June 9, 2018 at Medilodge of Cass City. Jean was born January 25, 1929 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the daughter of the late Charles and Adella Rose (Henkel) Schmiel. She was united in marriage with Harold Melvan Church on November 29, 1951 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and he preceded her in death in 2005. Jean was employed as an Occupational Therapist and was instrumental in setting up the OT Department at Hurley Hospital in Flint. In her spare time, Jean enjoyed gardening. She is survived by one son, Stuart Church and his fiance, Roberta Jarrett, of Gagetown; one daughter, Janell Craig and her husband, Gary; of Davison; grandchildren and spouses, Alaura Church of Gagetown, Amy & Kevin Wirt, Jenny & Troy Hazel, Timothy & Tara Garrison, Emily Craig, and Jeffrey Craig; great-grandchildren, Amanda, Ayslin, Brandon, Andrew, Noah, Keeghan and Keith, and great-great-grandson, Ezra. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, Tim Church in 1959 and Charles Church in 2016; one brother, Harold Schmiel; and one sister, Leona Schmiel. In keeping with Jean's wishes, cremation has taken place. Burial will be held at a later date at Newburg Cemetery in Bancroft.
