Jean K. Downing

Jean K. Downing of Caro, age 54, passed away on Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at Covenant Health Care - Cooper in Saginaw, following a recent illness. Jean was born October 10, 1962 in Pigeon, the daughter of the late Sylvester and Helen (Zakalata) Kubiak. She was a 1980 graduate of Owendale-Gagetown High School. Much of her life was spent as a housewife and mother, with the exception of driving bus for the Thumbody Express. She was united in marriage with Steve Downing on September 12, 2003 in Caro, and he survives her. Jean loved spending time with her grandchildren and enjoyed scratch off lottery tickets. In addition to her husband, Steve, Jean is survived by two children and their spouses, Randy Lee & Bethany Reil of Grand Blanc, Sarah & Roger McNutt of Davison; two step-daughters, Sara and Kaylin Downing, both of Columbus, Ohio; three grandchildren, Ariah, Oliver and Alivia; four brothers, one sister, and their spouses, Michael & Karen Kubiak of Caro, Sylvester & Cheri Kubiak of Pigeon, Patrick Kubiak of Pigeon, Daniel Kubiak of Pace, Florida, Kathleen & William Emery of Caro; several nieces and nephews; and her constant companion, Jessy. A Memorial Gathering will be held at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro on Saturday, March 4, 2017 from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. In keeping with Jean's wishes, cremation will follow the gathering.
