Jean Irene Sharp

Jean Irene Sharp of Unionville, age 89, passed away on Sunday, March 24, 2013 at St. Mary's of Michigan in Saginaw. She was born January 27, 1924 in Wisner Township, the daughter of the late Merlin and Beatrice (Ruppert) Black. Jean attended Fairgrove High School. Jean was united in marriage with Harold Sharp on March 26, 1941 in Gagetown. He preceded her in death on June 6, 2007. She was a homemaker early in her married life, and in 1964 she went to work at the Caro State Hospital retiring in 1982 after eighteen years of employment. Jean enjoyed baking apple pies, bread, cinnamon rolls and cookies; making peanut brittle for the Holidays; crocheting baby blankets, afghans, doilies and dolls; sewing and making many Raggedy Anne and Andy dolls; and in later years making jean quilts. Jean is survived by her five children, Carol & Aurey Fredrick, Shirley & Wesley Volz, Roger & Barbara Sharp, Rosemarie & Lee Morgan, Holly & Curt Dickson; fourteen grandchildren, Chris & Karen McBride, Kelly & Chuck Woodruff, Matt & Olga McBride, Rita & John Papp, Roxanne & Kevin Logan, James Volz, Dale & Jill Sharp, John & Melisa Sharp, Ashley Sharp, Leon & Nancy Flores, Geoff Morgan, Jason & Yaima Morgan, Alyssa and Tricia Petiprin; eighteen great-grandchildren, Carrie, Todd and Andrea McBride, Megan, Thomas and Katherine Woodruff, Meadow McBride, Angela and Justin Papp, Dylan and Abby Logan, Emily and Paige Sharp, Samantha Morgan, Dru and Carson Dickson, Joey and Naomi Flores; two sisters, Donna Huffman and Merlene Doud; many nieces and nephews; and her two special pets, her dog, Joey, and her cat, Toby. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Georgiana Flores and her husband, Leon; one grandson, Tomas Flores; and two sisters, Mary Lou Kramer and Evelyn Amoss. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 28, 2013 at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro with Pastor Jackie Raineri officiating. Burial will follow in Columbia Township Cemetery (Graf Road). The family will receive friends at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to Wisner United Methodist Church or Heartland Hospice.
