Jean Adeline Thayer

Jean A. Thayer age 89, of Pigeon died Wednesday morning, May 5, at the Huron County Medical Care Facility.
She was born November 21, 1919 in Detroit to the late Jay and Hattie (Fecteau) Cross.
On July 19, 1941, she was united in marriage to Frank E. Thayer at St. Edwards Catholic Church, Detroit.
In 1955, they relocated to Elkton, when Frank took a position with Active Industries. They moved to Vassar in 1967. After Frank's death in February of 2002, Jean moved to Sebewaing from Caro and to Pigeon last year, to be closer to family.
Jean was a very active member of St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church and altar society when living in Elkton, she and Mayme Mainhart would provide fresh flowers for the church regularly. She enjoyed reading, stamp collecting and spending time with family and friends.
Surviving are four children, Jackie (Loyd) Smith of Denton, TX, Kathy (Jim) Murdoch of Caseville, Jim (Liz) Thayer of West Olive and Tom (Debbie) Thayer of Flowermound, TX; eleven grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
A funeral mass will be conducted 1:00 PM Saturday May 9, at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church, Pigeon. Rev. Fr. John, pastor will officiate with burial in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends for 4 to 7 PM Friday at the Champagne Funeral Chapel, Elkton and at the church after noon Saturday.
