Jeanine Alice Linington

Jeanine Alice Linington, 84, of Caseville, passed away Saturday, February 5, 2022 at home.

Jeanine was born November 22, 1937 in Mt. Clemens to the late Harry and Alice (Joseph) Emme. She graduated from Mt. Clemens High School in 1955, then received her Bachelor’s Degree from Wayne State University and Master’s Degree from Saginaw Valley State University. She married her high school sweetheart George Linington on August 29, 1959 in Harper Woods.

She taught for 30 years either first or second grade: 1 year at Jefferson Elementary School in L’Anse Creuse Public Schools, 3 years at Rinke Elementary School in Warren Consolidated Schools and 26 years at Indian Hills Elementary in Romeo Public Schools, retiring in 1993. She valued education and learning. They lived and raised their family in Romeo. Having had a cottage on Lake Huron since 1978, they moved there permanently in 1997 where they enjoyed beautiful summers. There was always a great card game going on in the evenings with family and friends. Since 2001 winters were spent in Estero, Florida. She enjoyed tennis, world travel, Mahjongg, book club, dining out and taking in theater performances. She was a member of the Caseville Library Club, Huron County Nature Center and Caseville United Methodist Church.

Jeanine is survived by her husband George; children David (Catherine) of Findlay, Ohio, Deborah (Brian) Hurst of Metamora and Denise (Todd) Brown of Caledonia; grandchildren Megan (Josiah) Ringelberg, Rachel (Chris Chyba) Hurst, Michelle, Scott and Brian Linington and Elizabeth and Andrew Brown; and sister Judy Hervey of Oregon. She was preceded in death by her brother Joseph Emme.

A celebration of her life is planned for the coming summer at the family home in Caseville. Champagne Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements.
