Jeanne “Jackie” Post of Caro, age 94, passed away on Tuesday, May 30, 2023 at home with her family by her side. She was born November 17, 1928 in Lakewood, Ohio, the daughter of the late Dell and Sidney Jackson. After moving from Parma to Medina, Jackie graduated from Medina high school in 1946 and went on to Miami University of Ohio, graduating cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in business. While in Medina, she was a paralegal for Laribee & Cooper attorneys for fifteen years. She was a member of the Congregational Church, Jr. Hospital Guild, and the Lioness Chapter. In 1969 she moved to St. Pete Beach and subsequently lived in Clearwater, Largo, St. Petersburg, and Pinellas Park. Jackie worked in St. Petersburg for several years as a secretary for Baya M. Harrison of the Harrison, Greene, Mann, Davenport, Rowe & Stanton Attorneys. Followed by nineteen years with Jack Eckerd Corporation as Executive Assistant to the chairman and in 1974 was a appointed corporate secretary. During her time in Florida, Jackie served as a president of the Tampa Bay Chapter of Executive Women Int’l, four-year president of St. Petersburg Delta Zeta Sorority – Alumni Chapter and recipient of it’s award of honor. She was also a past-president of the Garden Club of St. Petersburg and past-officer of its Jungle Circle, a life member of the Florida Federation of Garden Clubs, co-founder and past officer of Lakewood Terrace Neighborhood Association, past-president of Greenbrier Village Pinellas Park Board of Directors, and a charter member of Florida Botanical Gardens. Jackie was the 1988 recipient of a Y.W.C.A. tribute to women in business & industry award, a member of Beta Gamma Sigma business honorary fraternity, an alumnus of St. Petersburg Panhellenic, past member of Elks Lodge #2217, on the natural resources defense council, and a member at Victory Christian Center. She was on the St. Petersburg Green Thumb Festival Committee, a graduate of Pinellas County Citizen University and its subsequent “Scholars” program. Jackie was listed in Who’s Who in Business, Business & Finance, and Women in Business. In the late 70’s she was featured in an issue of Florida Trend Business magazine as one of the top seven secretaries in the state. In 2006 Jackie moved to Caro. She was a past member of Colwood Church and at the time of her passing a member of Anchor Cove Outreach Church. She was a member of the Caro Garden Club, enjoyed reading, dancing, music, and cross-word puzzles, and loved to travel. Throughout life, Jackie was an ardent defender of the environment.
Jackie is survived by her daughter, Debi Dryer; adopted daughter, Jan Rhodes; granddaughter, Kristil Brigmon; grandsons, Adam Dryer and James Rhodes; great-grandchildren, Zana and Brianna Brigmon.
In keeping with Jackie’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service is being planned for a later date.
