Jeannette Marie McDonald, age 85, of Owendale, passed away Wednesday morning under the care of Arbor Hospice, at her daughters house in Ann Arbor.
Jeannette was born in Pigeon on July 15, 1935, to Paul and Bertha (Niece) Faust. After graduating as Valedictorian from high school, she married her high school sweetheart, Elwood "Bud" McDonald at St. Paul Lutheran Church – Linkville, on December 26, 1953. He preceded her in death on September 3, 2004.
Jeannette worked as the Post Master in Owendale for the U.S. Mail service. She was known in Owendale as the "Cookie Lady" for providing special treats at the post office for her customers. She enjoyed stamp collecting and photography, known to some school children as "Kodak Jane". The last few years she enjoyed traveling the countryside with her special friend, and now late, Duane Holland. Jeannette was also a lifelong and devoted member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Linkville.
Jeannette is survived by her children: Darren (Martina) McDonald, Mark (Carol) McDonald and Dena (David) Harris; sisters: Jeannine Ziehm and Peggy (Dan) Kelly; grandchildren: Katie (Sam) Butler, Rebecca McDonald, Defina McDonald, Brandon Stewart McDonald and Milena McDonald; great grandson, Calvin Butler; and many nieces and nephews.
Jeannette is preceded in death by her husband, Elwood "Bud" McDonald; special friend, Duane Holland; 3 infants: Richard, Kevin and Angie; and siblings: Robert Faust and Barb Werth.
Visitation will be on Sunday, September 27, 2020, at Juengel & Mellendorf Funeral Home in Sebewaing from 2-7pm. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, only 10 people are allowed in the building at a time and masks must be worn.
The funeral service will be on Monday, September 28, 2020 at St. Paul Lutheran Church-Linkville. Visitation will begin at the church at 10am until the time of service at 11am. The burial will be at Grant Township Cemetery in Gagetown.
Memorial donations may be given to St. Paul Lutheran Church-Linkville.
