Jeannette Marie Shaver Simon, age 82, of Caro, Michigan, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, July 19, 2026, with her beloved daughters by her side. Jeannette was born on June 9, 1944, at Pleasant Home Hospital in Cass City, the daughter of the late Donald and Bertha (Eskilsen) Cross. As the eldest of eight children, she naturally became the rock of her family. She was known to be a steady, dependable presence whose strength and unwavering love guided those around her throughout her life.
Jeannette's greatest joy was her family. She was a devoted mother who raised two daughters whose compassion, dedication, and love for family reflect the example she set throughout her life. She was immensely proud of them and cherished the close bond they shared.
She was also a loving grandmother who treasured every moment spent with her grandchildren. Family gatherings were especially meaningful to her, and Christmas was never complete without her homemade Kahula and peanut butter fudge, lovingly prepared from her grandmother Eskilsen's treasured recipe. She also enjoyed playing cards, was known as quite the pool shark. She would travel to many different towns to take place in their pool league tournaments and won many awards for her skills.
Jeannette embraced life with a strong sense of adventure. Even after her 70th birthday, she continued to seek out new experiences, creating unforgettable memories through adventures such as four-wheeling in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, ziplining in Alaska, parasailing, and swimming with dolphins in the Caribbean.
A woman of deep faith, Jeannette faced many health challenges over the years with remarkable courage and an unshakable positive attitude. Her trust in the Lord carried her through life's trials, and she met each day with grace, perseverance, and hope. Those who knew her often commented on her kindness, adventurous spirit, and beautiful smile. She had a calming presence and was known for always willing to help others.
Jeannette will be remembered as a woman of unwavering faith, quiet strength, boundless kindness, and enduring love. She leaves behind a legacy of compassion, resilience, and devotion to family that will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know her.
She is lovingly survived by her children, Tina (Greg) Planck, Rhonda (Mike) Sattelberg, Rod (Rose) Simon, and Dottie Simon; thirteen grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; sisters, Donna Cross, Diane Hahn, and Betty Hendricks; brother, Joseph (Christine) Hahn; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews. In addition to her parents, Jeannette was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Simon; brothers, Larry Cross, Richard Cross, and Dennis Cross; and brother-in-law, Larry Hendricks.
Jeannette’s Celebration of Life will be on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at 4:30 p.m. at the Ransford Funeral Home in Caro with Pastor Boshoven presiding. The family will be present to receive visitors on Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of Jeannette’s service. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider memorial contributions to United Hospice of Marlette.
