Jeffery Wayne Risdon of Bridgeport, formerly of Caro & Frankenmuth, age 42, departed this life on Monday, January 15, 2024 and went into the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Jeff was born on the way to the hospital in Saginaw County on October 1, 1981, the son of Daniel H. Risdon and Patricia A. (Kratz) Risdon. He graduated from Caro High School with the class of 2000 and went on to serve in the United States Air Force. During his time in the Air Force, Jeff excelled in his classes and was recommended for electrician courses. Following his honorable discharge, he attended Oakland University where he received his associate degree and then furthered his studies at Saginaw Valley State University, receiving his bachelor’s degree in business. Jeff worked at Michigan Works and was later employed with the Social Security Administration as a claim specialist – achieving their highest working honor. Most recently, Jeff sought to achieve his dream of working for the Veteran’s Administration to help fellow veterans. Helping others was a passion of Jeff’s and he would do anything he could to make life easier for others.
A man of faith and a true believer, Jeff studied scripture under the late R.B. Thieme, Jr., the pastor of Berachah Church. He always appreciated the spiritual conversations he would have with his special uncle, Thurman. Jeff was a Michigan football fan, loved his favorite team, the Buffalo Bills, and always rooted for the Lions. He enjoyed golfing and gardening; you could always find him tending to his vegetables. Jeff was a music man; he played the guitar, dabbled in learning the accordion, and was never without his Bluetooth speaker. He DJ’d at weddings, graduations, and various events around the area. Jeff was known as “DJ Rizzo” and for his tag line, “The Rizzo’s gunna Rizzo!” A quick wit and a charismatic personality made him the life of every party he attended. Jeff’s ability to uplift spirits and create laughter was a gift that touched the lives of many, turning ordinary moments into unforgettable memories. Above all, Jeff adored his kids, Kaydence and Jeffery, and would do anything for them. He was the best Daddy and loved to play volleyball and basketball with them, take them to the skatepark, and go for bike rides. Their most memorable adventure was a trip to Pennsylvania and New York City. His kindness and generosity knew no bounds, and he leaves behind a legacy of love and camaraderie.
Jeff leaves to cherish his memory, the lights of his life, his two children, Kaydence Anne Risdon and Jeffery Wayne Risdon, Jr. of Frankenmuth; his former wife and mother of his children, Kimberly Kay (Hale) Risdon of Frankenmuth; his mother, Patricia Risdon of Caro; brother, Jeremy Risdon of Caro; half-sister, Samantha (Risdon) Webber of Kentwood; step-sisters, Shannon (Sapien) & Douglas Zdrojewski of Muskegon and Savannah Thorp of Muskegon; beloved nieces and nephews, Ninah and Jaxon Risdon of Caro, Rachel and Dylan Zdrojewski of Muskegon, Kaiden and Maliya Bell of Muskegon; uncles, Thurman E. Kratz, Jr. of Caro and Eugene A. Koski of Otisville; several amazing cousins; close friend and fellow veteran, Ryan Johnson and many other special friends; and his best furry friend, Daisy. Jeff was preceded in death by his father and step-mother, Daniel & Kathy Risdon; brother-in-law, Daniel Webber; maternal grandparents, Thurman & Lottie (Slawinski) Kratz, Sr.; paternal grandparents, Leonard & Mildred (Harris) Risdon; aunt, Janice Koski; uncle, Wayne Lee Kratz.
