Jeffrey Wayne Mellendorf

Jeffrey Wayne Mellendorf of Caro, age 64, passed away on Friday, April 13, 2018 at his home. Jeff was born June 24, 1953 in Cass City, the son of Wayne Hall Mellendorf and the late Helen Nora Churchill, and was a 1972 graduate of Cass City High School. He was united in marriage with the former Beth Eloise Abke on June 8, 1974, and she survives him. Jeff was employed by the State of Michigan at the Caro Regional Center for thirty-three years until his retirement in 2010. He was a deeply committed to his family and was happiest when he was able to spend time with his two grandsons. Jeff adored his dogs, and also enjoyed reminiscing, reading, hunting and camping. He is survived by his loving wife of forty-three years, Beth Eloise Mellendorf of Caro; one daughter and son-in-law, Emily Eloise & Christopher Ross Butterfield; two grandsons, Connor Reed Butterfield and Cashel Rowen Butterfield; his father, Wayne Hall Mellendorf; one brother and his wife, Scott & Mary Mellendorf; one nephew and his wife, Dave & Tosha Mellendorf and their children, Ryan, Matthew and Brady; sisters-in-law, Judy Clarkson, Barb Abke, Linda & Bill Henderson, Denise & Dean Keilitz; several nieces and nephews, Brad Clarkson, Steven Clarkson, Lisa Abke, Sandi Marovich, Dawn Pasanski, Sara Bedore, Stephanie Lovejoy; many great-nieces and great-nephews; many dear friends, including his friend since childhood, Gary Dillon; and his faithful dog, Bones. In addition to his mother, Jeff was preceded in death by three brothers-in-law, Randy Abke, Greg Abke, Ron Clarkson; and his many dogs. In keeping with Jeff's wishes, cremation has taken place. A private family service will be held at a later date.
