Jeffrey Robert Mitchell

Jeffrey Robert Mitchell of Caro, formerly of Valparaiso, Indiana, age 56, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 12, 2021 at Hurley Medical Center in Flint, surrounded by his loving family. Jeff was born December 28, 1964 in Caro, the son of Gordon Mitchell and the late Carol (Bowles) Metz and was a 1983 graduate of Caro High School. He was a member of Delta Sigma Pi fraternity at Ferris State University graduating in 1987. Jeff enjoyed traveling, boating, cooking, and entertaining, but most importantly, spending time with family. He is survived by his father, Gordon Mitchell and Linda Gilkey of Caro; sister, Karen Zabonick and fianc, Steve Palmer, of Macomb; niece, Amanda Pollak and husband, Joe Pollak, of Macomb; two nephews, Zakary and Mitchell Zabonick, both of Macomb; his fianc, Vicki Durkin of Chesterton, Indiana, whom he was to marry on January 2, 2022; and his lifelong friend, Melissa Sugden and husband, Douglas, of Mayville. In addition to his mother, Jeff was preceded in death by an aunt, Francis Matthews. A memorial service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 18, 2021 at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro with Rev. Michele Hile officiating. The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 12:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers or memorial contributions, the family asks that you reach out to someone and be kind, forgive someone and let Jeff's memory continue forward.
