Jeffrey Michael Riley, age 44, of Pleasant Lake, formerly of Caro, passed away on Monday, June 20, 2011 at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing. He was born on November 23, 1966 in Caro to Christena (Campbell) Besonen and the late Michael Riley. Jeff was a 1984 graduate of Caro High School. He entered the U.S. Air Force and received a medical discharge. After attending Delta College and Saginaw Valley State University, he received both his Bachelor degree and MBA from U of M Flint. He was self employed in property management of residential units. He was an endurance athlete, competing in many triathlons and an Ironman competition. Jeff was a master diver involved in both teaching diving and rescue work. For years he taught ballroom dancing, was a model, and enjoyed traveling. He is survived by his mother, Christena (John) Besonen of Caro; his brother and sister, Mark Uhl of Mayville and Michelle Riley of Caro; his niece, Mackenzie Uhl of Cass City; his step-brother, Jeff Coupie of Bay City; two step-sisters, Tina (Tommy) DeBoult of St. Helen and Jamie Coupie of Standish; his special friend, Lisa Shroufe and her children; as well as his former wife Marie Walker; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. In addition to his grandparents, and the recent death of his father, he was also preceded in death by his step-mother, Gloria Riley. A memorial service will be held at Colwood United Brethren in Christ Church on Saturday, June 25, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Michele Hile officiating. Visitation will be held at the Collon Funeral Home on Friday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and at the Colwood United Brethren in Christ Church on Saturday from 2:00 p.m. until time of service at 3:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society and the National Kidney Foundation of Michigan.
