Jenny L. Bruce age 56, of Pigeon died on her birthday, Thursday, February 21, at Midwestern Cancer Treatment Center north of Chicago.
She was born February 21, 1952, in Pigeon to Raymond and Maude (Heasty) Heck and grew up just south of Pigeon. Jenny was a 1970 graduate of Laker High School.
On May 1, 1971, she was united in marriage to John E. Bruce at St. John Lutheran Church, Berne. They lived south of Elkton for a number of years before moving to their current home near Pigeon.
Jenny had been employed at Agri-Valley Communications for the past ten years in the billing department.
She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Berne. She sang in the choir and was a member of the Women's Society. Jenny was also a member of the Chat/N/Chew Extension Club, Pigeon. She loved pampering and playing with her grand children, and enjoyed reading, sewing, crocheting and flower gardening.
Surviving are her husband, John; three daughters, Julie (Marc) Borlaug of Flint, Jodie (Jason) Baldwin of St. Charles and Jill (Larry) Weber of Midland; five grandchildren, Tyler, Mason, Ellie, Kurtis and Hannah; her parents, Ray and Maude Heck of Pigeon; her brother, Mark Heck of Flint and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, Eric Heck.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM Tuesday, February 26, at St. John Lutheran Church, Berne. Rev. James Gorsengner, pastor and Rev. Jason Baldwin will officiate with burial in the church cemetery.
Friends may call at the Champagne Funeral Chapel, Elkton from 2 to 9 PM Monday and at the church after 10 AM Tuesday.
Memorials may be directed to St. John Lutheran Church, Relay for Life or Michigan Lutheran Seminary.
