Jerry Cilc, 83, a life-long Caseville resident, died Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at Scheurer Hospital in Pigeon.
Jerry was born at home in Caseville on December 26, 1930 to the late Joseph and Mary Ann (Hladik) Cilc. He attended school in Caseville before leaving school to join the US Army in 1947. He served in Germany for 18 months before being discharged. He was recalled to the Army in 1950 for service in the Korean War. He married Jean Olson on September 3, 1955 at the Caseville Methodist parsonage.
Known as “Badger” by most, he spent his career farming and working in local factories. He loved being outdoors, whether it was farming, gardening, hunting, fishing or boating. He was active in the community, having been a former member of the Caseville Eagles, Rod and Gun Club, Riverside Pool League and a former Caseville Township Trustee for 36 years.
He is survived by his wife Jean; children Kim Galbreath of Virginia, Jeff (Brenda) Cilc of Caseville and Kelly (Keith) King of Caseville; grandchildren Jeremy, Shelby, Taylor, Jamie and Keith; brothers Jim (Marilee) and Anthony (Geraldine) both of Caseville, sisters Penny Addy of Caseville, Blanche Wilfong of Idaho, Sylvia Kanyak of Caseville and Gail (Tom) Swidorski of Hemlock and sisters-in-law Grace and Bertha Cilc of Caseville.
He was preceded in death by his brothers O. King and Joe Jr., and sister Olga Schmanski.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 am Saturday at the Caseville United Methodist Church with Rev. Linda Fuller officiating.
Visitation will be 1-8 pm Friday at the Champagne Funeral Chapel of Caseville. He will lie in-state one hour prior to the service on Saturday in church.
Memorials may be made to the Disabled American Veterans.
