Jerry W. Eby age 64 of Elkton died Friday evening, August 1, at his home while under hospice care.

He was born November 7, 1949 in Bad Axe to Marie (Kirk) Eby and the late Edwin “Ted” Eby. Jerry grew up on the Eby farm at the south limits of Elkton and was a 1967 graduate of Laker High School. One month later in July of 1967, he joined the US Navy and served in Vietnam as a Corpsman attached to the Marine Corp, Mike Co, 3rd Marine Div, 3rd Battalion, known as Mike 3/3.
On September 30, 1967, while home on leave after basic training, he was united in marriage to Iola Hewitt at the Elkton Missionary Church.

When he returned home, he began working at Sebewaing Industries, in 2002, he retired with 32 years of service.
Jerry was a member of the Elkton VFW and enjoyed wood working, maintaining his yard, especially enjoyed hunting and fishing with his sons and going to his grandchildren’s sporting events.

Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Iola; two sons, Chris (Wendy) Eby of Bay City and Eric (Christine) Eby of Williamston; five grandchildren, Logan, Carson, Alexa, Katarina and Adrian; his mother, Marie Eby of Elkton; his brother, David (Kathy) Eby of Owensboro, KY; two sisters, Jeanne (Rick) Chisena of Augres and Becky (Doug) Shrake of Mooresville, IN and his mother-in-law, Lois Hewitt of Elkton.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM Tuesday, August 5, at Elkton Missionary Church. Rev. Reggie Courliss, pastor will officiate with burial and military honors at Riverside Cemetery, Elkton.

Friends may call at the Champagne Funeral Chapel, Elkton from 2 to 9 PM Monday and at the church after 10 AM Tuesday.
Memorials may be given to the church building fund or the donor’s choice
