Jerry Lee Fader of Caro, age 85, passed away on Wednesday, May 13, 2020 at the Tuscola County Medical Care Community in Caro, in the loving hands of his caregivers. Jerry was born December 8, 1934 at the family farm in Unionville, the son of the late Vern and Gertrude (Putnam) Fader, and was a lifelong area resident. He was a graduate of Unionville High School, Class of 1952. Jerry was united in marriage with the former Joan Holdburg in 1964 in Garden City and she preceded him in death on December 20, 1990. He then married the former Mary Dyer on August 29, 1992, and she survives. Jerry was a self-employed carpenter prior to taking a position with the Village of Caro waste water treatment plant. He was also a twenty-five year volunteer with the Caro Fire Department and a part-time police officer with the Village of Caro. Jerry was a member of the Caro Moose Lodge and the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling and cooking. You knew Jerry loved you when he yelled at you with an intimidating voice. Jerry is survived by his wife, Mary Fader of Caro; four children and their spouses, Darrell Fader of Traverse City, Mike & Kathy Fader of Caro, Terry & Tammy Fader of Harmony, Florida, Michelle & David Frick of Caro; eleven grandchildren, Richard, Ginger, Vern, Emily, Ethan, Heather, Travis, Owen, Steven, Kelsey, and Samuel; twelve great-grandchildren; three brothers and their spouses, James Fader of Muskegon, William & Norma Fader of Unionville, Doug & Colleen Fader of Unionville; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, Joan, Jerry was preceded in death by one brother, Robert Fader; and one son, Michael Lich. Private family services will take place. A memorial gathering will be held at a later date.
