Jerry Roy Johnston, 77, of Cass City, Michigan, passed away peacefully at Aleda E. Lutz VA Medical Center, Saginaw, Michigan, following a lengthy illness. Jerry joined his parents in heaven on Monday, December 2, 2024. Jerry was born on August 27, 1947 in Caro and was the son of the late Gerald and Louise (Dadacki) Johnston of Kingston. Jerry excelled in mathematics and science, played saxophone in the high school band, and was on the honor roll many times, graduating in 1965 from Kingston High School.


Jerry was a proud U.S. Army veteran serving as a Nike Hercules Radar Operator at White Sands Missile Base, New Mexico. He was stationed in Kunshan, Korea. Jerry served in the U.S. Army three years and was honorably discharged obtaining the rank of SP5 (E5).


After returning from the U.S. Army, Jerry attended Delta College in Freeland. Jerry retired from General Cable in Cass City after working there for twenty-eight years. During Jerry's final years, he enjoyed going to the VA on a regular basis and spending time with his close brother and caretaker, Ron. Jerry enjoyed family get-togethers with his siblings and watching old movies. He also enjoyed furthering his knowledge of astronomy and other sciences.


Jerry is survived by his brothers, Ron (Janet), of Armada, Brian (Pam), of Wolverine, and sisters, Annette (Les) Sproule, of Vassar and Debra (Mike) Kusluski, of State College, Pennsylvania; nieces and nephews, Angel, Shane, Nathan Orton, Jessica Butts, Doug Johnston and Matthew Kusluski.


In keeping with Jerry’s wishes, cremation has taken place and his private burial will be held on December 27, 2024 at Saint Michael’s Cemetery in Wilmot.
