Jerry A. Joles, Jr. , age 55, of Unionville, passed away Friday, February 4, 2022, at McLaren Bay Region in Bay City. Jerry was born May 22, 1966, in Midland to Jerry and Mary Lee (Seurynck) Joles. His death brings great sadness to his family and to all who knew him and will be deeply missed.
Jerry graduated from Unionville-Sebewaing Area High School in 1984. He then attended and graduated from Delta College, receiving an Associate's Degree in Arts and Science-AAS-Automotive Engineering Technology and Technician. He worked for Mercury Outboard and then for General Motors as a Master Automobile Technician. He was the racing car project manager at GM from May 2005-March 2019. He was a member of the International Motor Sport Association. Jerry was also a volunteer with ACW Ambulance. Jerry enjoyed collecting and working on vintage snowmobiles. He also enjoyed working the racing circuit on cars, boats, snowmobiles and motorcycles, getting to travel the world, including all of the United States and a year in Australia.
Jerry is survived by his mother, Mary Lee Houghton of Dallas, Texas; sister, Jodi Markwardt of San Antonio, Texas; nieces: Audrey Markwardt of San Antonio, Texas and Mary Ruth Murphy of Dallas, Texas; and extended family: Jim Joles, Phyllis and Dave Bell, Jack and Connie Joles, Rocky and Lori Joles; aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Jerry returned to his paternal grandparents' homestead, Ambrose and Lila Joles, who provided loving care and support to him all of his life. He was in the process of fixing it up and making it his own. His heart was invested in the old home.
Jerry is preceded in death by his father, Jerry A. Joles of Unionville and his sister, Jeannie Murphy of Dallas, Texas.
Visitation will be Wednesday, February 9, 2022 at Juengel-Mellendorf Funeral Home in Sebewaing from 2-8pm.
The funeral service will be Thursday, February 10, 2022 at Juengel-Mellendorf Funeral Home in Sebewaing at 11am. Brad Haist will be officiating.
Burial will be private at Wisner Township Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be given to ACW Ambulance.
