Gerald (Jerry) E. Sprague, age 70, former owner of Elkton Roofing and Siding passed away unexpectedly, Monday, April 10, while on his 12 mile daily bicycle ride.
He was born November 2, 1935 in Flint to the late Willard and Frances (Percival) Sprague. They moved to Pinnebog in his youth and later to the Elkton area. Jerry graduated from Elkton High School in 1953. He then attended Central Michigan University for a year before being inducted into the US Army and was stationed in Ft. Monmouth, N.J On September 20, 1958, he was united in marriage to Connie Reid in Bad Axe and made their home in Colfax Twp. When he returned home, he worked with his father at Elkton Roofing and Siding. Upon his Dad's retirement he purchased and owned Elkton Roofing and Siding from 1980 until his retirement in 2001.
Jerry enjoyed working on old cars and his garden. Also enjoyed refinishing furniture after his retirement.
Surviving are his wife, Connie; his daughter, Suzanne Sprague of Port Orange, FL; two brothers, Richard and wife Betty of Tavares, FL and Bruce and wife, Carol of Argentine, MI; a sister, Judy Holmes of San Diego, CA and his father and mother-in-law, Ray and Mildred Reid of Tavares, FL.
There is no visitation or funeral service scheduled at this time. A memorial service may be set at a later date.
Memorials may be made to the Bad Axe Public Library.
