Jess A. Putman age 59, of Wayne formerly of Elkton died Monday evening, March 23, while visiting his sister in Huntersville, NC of a massive heart attack.
He was born January 10, 1950 in Bad Axe to the late Alton and Patricia (Austen) Putman, grew up in Elkton and was a 1968 graduate of Laker High School.
Jess moved to the Flint area in the early 1980's and was employed at General Motors. In 1992, took a position with Focus Hope in Detroit where he remained for six years. In 1999, Jess moved to Wayne and was employed with Ford Motor Company as a Journeyman Electrician. He took pride in his job, and had a work ethic sometimes not seen in today's world.
He was very interest in all sports and especially enjoyed golf and NASCAR.
Surviving are his children, Jess (Stacy) Putman Jr. of Caseville, Tracey (Steve) Harris of Sebewaing and Rachel Putman of Fenton; seven grandchildren, Joshua, Marissa, Kaitlyn, Laci, Kay Lee, Shawna and Braydon; two brothers, Errol Putman of Mt. Pleasant and Patrick Putman of Bay City and his sister, Gwen Stapleton of Huntersville, NC.
Preceding him in death a grandson Tyler Putman; a stepson, Roger Lawrence and his brother, Brian Putman.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM Saturday, March 28, at the Champagne Funeral chapel, Elkton, where friends may call from 2 to 9 PM Friday and after 10 AM Saturday.
Staff chaplain, Karen Bouverette will officiate with burial in Grant Twp. Cemetery.
Memorial may be given to the family.
