Jesse Aguilera

Jesse Aguilera of Sebewaing, age 60, passed away on Thursday, January 31, 2019 at his home. Jesse was born September 25, 1958 in San Antonio, Texas, and moved to Michigan in 1966. Jesse was employed with Michigan Sugar Company for more than forty-one years prior to his retirement. Jesse was an EMT and volunteer firefighter in the communities of Sebewaing, Pigeon, and Fairgrove. He had a variety of interests which include coaching a variety of sports, playing softball and baseball, pool, darts, singing, playing guitar and jamming with his family band. Jesse also enjoyed cooking, walking his dog, Barack, talking politics, and spending time with family, including three daughters and three granddaughters, and his many friends. He is survived by three daughters and their spouses, Regina & Bill Minjoe, Jennifer Aguilera and Gian-Paolo DiBerardo, Whitney & Andrew Schmidt; the mother of his children, Patsy Aguilera; three granddaughters, Ella Minjoe, Evelyn Minjoe and Vivian Schmidt; siblings, Mary & Aurellio Martinez, Janie Lounsbury, Jack Aguilera, Johnny Aguilera; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Jacinto and Jesusita Aguilera, Jesse was also preceded in death by four siblings, Rudy Colunga, Leondro Colunga, Josie Torres, and Isabel Besaw. In keeping with Jesse's wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 9, 2019 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Sebewaing with Pastor Michael Boyer officiating. The family will be present to receive friends at the church on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service as 12:00 p.m. A memorial gathering to honor his life will be held afterwards from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Sebewaing V.F.W. Hall. Because Jesse had a strong belief that all children should have an opportunity for a Christian education, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to the Family Discretionary Fund, c/o Regina Minjoe, 205 West Sherman Street, Caro, MI 48723. All contributions will be used to set up a memorial fund at Christ the King Lutheran School in Sebewaing or Trinity Lutheran School in Utica.
