Jessie Elaine Schweitzer, 92 of Bay Port and Caseville, passed away Thursday, March 5, 2015 at the Huron Medical Care Facility, Bad Axe.
Born June 9, 1922 in Pigeon, she was the daughter of Edward and Pearl (Notter) Diefenbach, and attended the Snell School.
Jessie lived in Bay Port most of her life, and when living in Caseville, drove to Bay Port almost every day to have coffee with her lifelong friends. She was a homemaker throughout her lifetime. She enjoyed flowers, the deer, and wildlife. She liked Bingo as well as family card games. She loved her children and was very proud of each of her grandchildren. Jessie was a spiritual, honest, kind, and giving person. She was a member of the Bay Port United Methodist Church and an active member of the United Methodist Women.
Her survivors include her children: LeRoy and Arlene Schweitzer of Sebewaing, Kay and Bob Christner of Imlay City, Judy and Bob Gravelle of Sterling Heights, Dennis and Sue Schweitzer of Bay Port, and Jerry and Tammy Schweitzer of Pigeon; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; four great great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Michael Robert Gravelle; sisters, Evelyn VanDervoort and Vernita Kuhl; and brothers, Howie, Monte, and Bill Diefenbach.
The Funeral Service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at the Bay Port United Methodist Church, with Pastor Brian K. Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Grandlawn Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Family Discretionary Fund.
