Jessie I. Williston

Jessie I. Williston, age 81, of Bad Axe, died Friday, April 6, at Sparrow Hospital, Lansing.

She was born June 26, 1930, in Bad Axe to the late Carl and Janet (Patterson) McDowell and lived in the Bad Axe area her entire life.
On November 22. 1952, she was united in marriage to James A. Williston at the Bad Axe Presbyterian Church. He preceded her in death June 29, 2002.

Jessie taught 12 years in country schools around Bad Axe before coming to Bad Axe Public School. She taught fourth grade for 25 years, retiring in 1992.
She was a member of the Chandler Presbyterian Church, Order of Eastern Star, Huronia Chapter # 81 and the Michigan Retired School Personal.

Surviving are two daughters, Janet (Tom) Legacy of Perry and JoAnne Stitt of Ypsilanti and five grandchildren, Brent (Amy), George and James Legacy and Carly and Cherissa Stitt.
Preceding her was her brother, Bill McDowell.

A memorial service will be conducted 11:00 AM Saturday, May 19, at the Bad Axe Presbyterian Church with Rev. Jon Dykshorn officiating.

Memorials may be directed to Shriners Children’s Hospital, American Diabetes Assn. or the donors choice.
