Jewel Le Maire, age 87 years, of Caro, passed away on Monday, September 1, 2008 at the Tuscola County Medical Care Facility. She was born on April 25, 1921 in Caro to the late Charles and Dora (Pierce) Way. Jewel was a Caro High School graduate and on May 1, 1948 the former Jewel Way was united in marriage to John Augustine Le Maire. He preceded her in death on June 18, 1959. In addition to being a mother and homemaker, Jewel worked all of her life outside the house. Her first job was with the Dibble Dime Store. She then worked during the war effort at the gun plant in Saginaw, Sandersons Floor Covering and then as a salesperson at J.C. Penney until her retirement. During her retirement she continued her sales career at Fashion Bug. She was a member of First Church of Christ, Scientist as well as TOPS and the Caro V.F.W. Auxiliary #4164. Jewel enjoyed gardening, cats, birds, and of course, eating ice cream. She is survived by two daughters, Suzanne Le Maire of Bay Port and Diane (Joe) Gamino of Chapel Hill, Tennessee; two grandsons, Joey (Ashley) Gamino of Tennessee and Jayson Gamino of Tennessee; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Leota Hutchinson. A memorial service will be held at the Collon Funeral Home in Caro on Thursday, September 4, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. with Christopher Taylor facilitating. Following cremation, burial will be at Indianfields Township Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Collon Funeral Home on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Tuscola County or the charity of the donor
