Joan Kupiec

Joan Kupiec, age 76, of Deford, died on Saturday, May 14, 2011 at Brians House in Bay City. She was born on March 24, 1935 in Hamtramck to the late Mike and Louise (Patrus) Wnuk. Joan graduated from high school in Detroit. She was a mother, wife, and homemaker. She was united in marriage to Gabriel Rowinski, and he preceded her in death in 1964. On June 21, 1975 Joan Rowinski married Frank Kupiec in Wilmot. He also preceded her in death. She lived the remainder of her life in the area. While living in Tuscola County, she also worked out of the house as a caregiver and at Stanleys Bakery. Joan was of the Catholic faith and a member of St. Michael Catholic Church in Wilmot. Joan was a rather private person and enjoyed sewing quilts, reading, watching game shows, and the challenge of crosswords. She liked snacking on chips and an occasional jelly doughnut. Joan is survived by two children, Denise Rowinski and David (Sherri) Rowinski, all of Deford; two grandchildren, Gabriel Rowinski of Grand Rapids and Lydia (RJ) Magiera of Kalamazoo, and their mother, Diana; two step-grandchildren, Angel and Autumn; her siblings, Bernice Williams of Colorado, Michael Wnuk of Warren, and Julie (William) Boland of Lapeer; many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. In addition to her parents and both husbands, Joan was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Juralbal; and a sister-in-law, Patricia Wnuk. A memorial service will take place at the Collon Funeral Home on Saturday, May 21, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. with Father John Ladd officiating. There will be visitation at the Collon Funeral Home on Saturday, May 21, 2011 from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 1:00 p.m. The Rosary will be recited at 12:00 p.m.. Cremation has taken place and the Rite of Committal will be at a later date at St. Michael Catholic Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donors choice.
