Joan Sharon Moss of Mayville, age 81, passed away on May 2, 2024 at Covenant Health Care Center - Cooper in Saginaw. Joan was born February 19, 1943 in Detroit, the daughter of the late Joseph and Lorraine (Hall) Trautwein. She graduated from Edsel Ford High School in 1961 and went on to earn her associate degree in business administration from Great Lakes Community College. Joan worked in the health care field for many years, working for various physicians over the years. After retirement, she continued to be a caretaker for her mother for several years. Joan’s most prized position though was being a mother; her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren meant the world to her. Joan loved spending time with them and baking her mother’s famous banana cream pie for them, it was the best! She was a dedicated woman of faith, belonging to many churches over the years, most recently the Ellington Church of the Nazarene. Joan’s greatest passion was singing in church and leading the youth. She wrote many special poems for each of her loved ones, and enjoyed painting and tending to her garden. Joan had a heart of gold and would welcome all of her son’s friends into her home with open arms; she was lovingly known as “Ma Moss” to many. She loved the water, spending time in Caseville, and just being with her family. Joan’s devotion and love will be remembered by all who were lucky enough to know her.
Joan leaves to cherish her memory her three sons, Brad Moss (Barb Bennett), Craig Moss (Jennifer), and Brian (Kelly) Moss; grandchildren, Katy (Chad) Moss and Kristy (Andrew) Ozbat; great-grandchildren, Kendall Schaudt and Nolan Ozbat; siblings, Janet (George) Chaniot and Joe (Rebecca) Trautwein; and nieces and nephews, Greg, Marisa, Teagan, and Tate. In addition to her parents, Joan was preceded in death by the father of her sons, Ronald Moss and her beloved dog, Jacan.
