Joan Gail Nowland

Joan Gail Nowland of Caro, age 78, passed away on Monday, March 6, 2017 at her home, surrounded by the love of her family. Joan was born January 7, 1939 in Bad Axe, the daughter of the late Lee & Olive (Philpot) Hartsell. She was united in marriage with Kenneth Nowland on December 17, 1960 in Saginaw. Joan was a member of the Caro Eagles and thoroughly enjoyed playing Bingo and shopping. She will be remembered as a loving wife and mother that was happiest when surrounded by grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of fifty-six years, Kenneth Nowland of Caro; four daughters and their spouses, Michelle Noble of Evart, Sue & Ken Davison of Caro, Wendy & Adam Trisch of Caro, Robin & Daniel Neahusan of Evart; seven grandchildren, Michael & Kim Noble, Justin Noble, Ben Davison, Clint Davison, Brooke Neahusan & Tasha Schultz, Ryan Davison & Megan Lier; four great-grandchildren, Michael Noble, Jr., Dayton Davison, Annalease Neahusan, Brooke Madeleine Neahusan; one brother, Gary Hartsell of Bad Axe; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Joan was preceded in death by two brothers, Gordon and Jim Hartsell. In keeping with Joan's wishes, cremation has taken place and a private memorial will be held at a later date.
