Joan B. Retzler, age 81, of Unionville, passed away November 4, 2016, at Bay Medical Care Facility in Esssexville.
Joan was born October 21, 1935, in Bay City, the daughter of the late Roland and Bernice (Lapan) Knight. She married Richard Retzler on May 12, 1956 in Sebewaing. She worked as a cook at many local restaurants and was a cook at USA Schools for a little over four years. She enjoyed cooking, baking, golfing, shooting pool, watching cooking shows and QVC, going on casino trips and visiting the cabin in Tawas. Joan was a member of Our Lady of Consolata Catholic Church (Holy Family) in Sebewaing and was a member of the Holy Family Women's Circle. She adored her spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Joan is survived by her husband, Richard; children: Rick (Pam) Retzler of Caro and Lori (Mark) Zimmer of Unionville; grandchildren: Zach (Kristine) Retzler of Bay City, Gavin Zimmer of Unionville, Savannah Retzler of Caro and Landin Zimmer of Unionville; brother-in-law, Henry VanHoost; sister-in-law, Lillian Retzler; nieces and nephews: Karen, Kathy, Raymond, Larry, Terry, Garry, Jackie, Marlene, Christie, Pete, Don, Cheryl, Deb and Mike.
Proceeded in death by brother-in-law's and sister-in-law's: Barb VanHoost, June (Pete) Leiterman, Marge (Jim) Galmish and Don Retzler.
Visitation is Sunday, November 6, 2016 at Juengel & Mellendorf Funeral Home in Sebewaing from 2-8pm.
The funeral service will be Monday, November 7, 2016, at Our Lady of Consolata Catholic Church (Holy Family) in Sebewaing. Visitation will begin at 10am until the time of service at 11am.
Burial will be at Holy Family Catholic Cemetery in Sebewaing.
Memorial donations may be given to Our Lady of Consolata or USA Schools.
