Joann Bensinger, age 68, of Caseville, died Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at Covenant Hospital in Saginaw.
Joann was born March 6, 1942 in Detroit to the late Stanley and Joann (Girgenti) Shindle. She graduated from Lake Shore High School, St. Clair Shores, in 1960. On October 6, 1962 she was united in marriage to Robert W. Bensinger at St. Margaret Catholic Church, St. Clair Shores.
She was employed as a cosmetologist at Nino’s Beauty Salon in Eastpointe. Having lived and raised her family in Warren, Joann retired to Caseville in 1997. She was a member of St. Roch Catholic Church, the Caseville Eagles Auxiliary #3690, the Caseville Retirement Club and she enjoyed sewing, quilting and spending time with her family.
Surviving are her husband Robert; daughter Sheryl and her husband John Girardi of Chesterfield and son Robert Jr. and his wife Karen of Clinton Twp; grandchildren Shawn, Danielle, Megan and Matthew; great-grandchild Jayden; mother Joann Shindle of Washington Twp; brother Frank (Ellen) Shindle of Washington Twp and sister Marylee (David) Fabian of Rochester Hills.
A funeral mass will be 10:00 am Saturday, February 5th at St. Roch Catholic Church with Rev. Robert Pare presiding. Burial will be in St. Roch Cemetery.
Visitation will be 2 to 8 pm Friday at the Champagne Funeral Chapel of Caseville. She will lie in-state one hour before mass on Saturday in Church. There will be an Eagles Auxiliary Ritual at 6pm and a scripture service at 7pm Friday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
